The people of the Island  of Marken  were
the last to give up their national dress , some  of  of the older
members of the community can still be seen wearing  it on high days

The cross-stitch motifs of the Isle of Marken are unique   

Margeet is  "The"  needleworker in  Holland -She  stitches for  the  Royal  Dutch  family
